This weekly pathology report highlights ureteral endometriosis, pain, and the extensiveness of disease.
In this case, a full robotic excision of endometriosis was performed that only revealed three spots of Endometriosis. However, the patient had significant pain and symptoms. Her main disease was focused around the ureter (the tube that goes from your kidney to your bladder) on both sides.
As demonstrated in the pathology report, both the left and right periureteral peritoneum was positive for endometriosis.
A complicated ureterolysis to separate the ureter from the overlying peritoneum allowing the disease to be removed. Her symptoms will be remarkably improved by removing these areas. Although the risk of treating ureteral endometriosis is higher to the patient, in experienced hands, the risk is minimized and the patient can achieve much better improvement in her symptoms.
