Functional Medicine - Women's Excellence

Helping You Overcome Your Health Issues

At Women’s Excellence Enhance, our goal is to identify the root cause of your symptoms through a functional medicine approach.

The traditional medical system is largely focused on acute care, like diagnosing and treating a specific illness or trauma with specific drugs or surgeries. This model works very well for problems like strep throat or even a broken arm. However, this approach is not designed to address the complex, chronic ailments that many women in our society face today.

What is Functional Medicine?

The practice of functional medicine addresses the underlying causes of disease, especially chronic disease. Rather than attacking a set of symptoms, functional medicine takes an individual, patient-centered approach to treatment. Treatment addresses the whole person, not just the problem that is currently presenting itself.  Learn more on functional medicine on our blog.

We Empower Our Patients to Advocate for Their Health

The progression of your disease or symptoms is often a direct result of a person’s environment, choices, and lifestyle. Functional medicine makes it possible to be proactive about your health.   Since the underlying causes of your symptoms can be complex, there is no one size fits all approach when it comes to functional medicine.  Every treatment is customized to every patient.

Your Initial Consultation

Be prepared to talk honestly and openly about eating habits, environment, exercise, nutrition, hormonal changes, family history, medical history, employment, relationships, and more. Our team wants a strong sense of your entire well-being, not just information about your physical symptoms, to help develop a unique treatment plan for you.

After an in depth discussion on your lifestyle and medical history, a physical exam and basic laboratory tests will be suggested to give our team a clear picture of what’s happening in your body.  Genetic testing is also major component of functional medicine to determine if certain genes make patients more susceptible to certain health problems.

Do you suffer from any of the following symptoms or conditions?

  • Fatigue and weakness
  • Headaches
  • Painful and heavy periods
  • Endometriosis
  • Muscle and joint pain
  • Diabetes
  • Mental illness
  • Heart disease
  • Skin concerns like dry skin, redness, rashes, and even acne
  • Abdominal pain
  • Autoimmune disorders like rheumatoid arthritis
  • Diarrhea
  • Constipation

At Women’s Excellence, we aim to find the origin of your problem. By gaining extensive knowledge of your lifestyle, we can better treat your symptoms instead of just covering them up!
